Sophia joined St John Ambulance Cadets at the age of 11 and gave her community 25 years of both teaching first aid and providing first aid at public events, including the Sydney Olympics. Several years ago, she attended a car accident and was surprised by the behaviour of the bystanders; it concerned her that people did not know what to do and so decided to set out on a project to empower bystanders (the first helpers to arrive on the scene of an accident) with the knowledge and skills to support appropriately. The next best thing to preventing the accident, is to manage it effectively. |
